Blog Tour - Hearts Journey Review and Giveaway

About the book: Adventure is in her blood, so when wealthy eighteen-year-old Rachel Hamilton’s treasure-hunting father disappears in the wilderness of British Columbia, she considers only one course of action: she will embark on a quest to find him. But for a well-bred woman with little understanding of the world beyond her upper-class existence, the harsh realities of the trail quickly become apparent. Woefully unprepared for the hardships of crossing a wild and unsettled continent, Rachel is hungry, lost, and distraught when handsome frontiersman Peter finds her in the middle of nowhere. Taking pity on the downtrodden young woman, Peter promises to escort her to the safety of civilization. Little does he realize he’s taking on a naïve and foolishly brave girl who will test the limits of his patience. But he also discovers the same naïve girl will blossom into a strong, competent, and captivating woman as they undertake an epic journey that will forever alter both their lives.

My review: I really enjoyed this book. The heroine, Rachel Hamilton, was nothing short of amazing. She's a young woman who has grown in a wealthy, privileged home. But her father had left the family in search of gold and Rachel decides that she must find him, so she sets off across the country on her own. Well....she does have her cat! But she ends up lost and is eventually found by Peter, a man willing to help her find the company that she's lost from. But little does he know that he will allow himself to be conned into taking her even farther than he himself had planned on going to find the father that she knows is out there somewhere.

As Rachel was lost on the prairie of Canada, I'm trying to imagine to myself just how that would have been and I can't imagine myself ever having to find my way across such a vast, empty spot on my own. Or crossing the whole country all on her own. What a strong young woman she was! I loved that she was unwilling to give up on her quest, even when things looked bleak.

And Peter....I loved the way that he was going out of his way to help her, and someone else you find out later in the book about. I also really liked that he was not quite what he seemed, yet he was such a kind and gentlemanly man. I think that it would have been fun to have seen some of the plot through his eyes.

I liked the twists and turns of the plot, ultimately ending in a satisfying conclusion. This book is cute, clean, full of adventure, and there is romance too, it really has it all!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
