About the book: Sometimes disaster is simply a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Take Addison Roberts, for example: it is a deadly coincidence that in a crowded parking lot one day, she catches the eye of a dangerous criminal on the run. In his desperation to evade the police, what he needs is a way out—and Addison and her car are his ticket to escape.
Lieutenant Chase Roberts, on leave from his military assignment, is anxious to be reunited with his wife. Yet as night falls and Addison fails to appear, Chase feels a rising sense of foreboding. Hours quickly become days as he desperately works with authorities to find the woman he loves. But after being named a person of interest, Chase is warned away from the investigation—a mandate he ignores. Chase will stop at nothing to find his wife, and what he ultimately discovers is terrifying: Addison has been carjacked by a man who has killed before and has no scruples against killing again ...
My review: I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book. But, wow! I really loved it. There are so many things that were great about this one.
The characters. I loved the way you get to see into the minds and feelings of each of the characters. It's told through the point of view of each of the main ones and I loved the way it gave you such a great view of everything that was happening, oftentimes through multiple angles.
The book starts out with Eddie. He's a man who is down on his luck and pretty much at the end of his rope. The last thing he comes up with to do to make it so he can survive is to rob a bank. But the bank robbery goes wrong when he ends up killing the guard. The guard dying also makes it so Eddie is desperate and he no longer cares how many bad things he does...bad news for Addison.
Addison is the victim. She just happens to be in the place Eddie determined to leave his getaway car at the wrong time. He takes her and life gets hard for her very fast. I love the way she has the presence of mind to remember a survival course she had taken. I love the strength she shows and the way she knows she will be able to beat Eddie, even when it seems like everything's against her. She also is a woman of great faith, she prays several times to know what to do.
There's also Chase, he's Addison's husband. I love the way, even though things seem terrible, when he prays he knows everything will work out. I also liked that he was willing to be humble enough to let the police treat him as the bad guy in order to make things move faster to find his wife. He also is not willing to sit idly by to let the police find things in their own time. He knows he needs to help and he puts himself in harms way so many times to save her.
The plot of this one sucked me in so fast! I didn't want anything bad to happen to Addison and I couldn't put this one down until I read the whole book. So amazing!
I loved everything about this book, take the time to read it! You won't regret it!
