Anxiety Disorders and Mormonism conference

I wanted to tell you about a conference that I'm going to be helping with in March. This conference is all about Anxiety Disorders and Mormonism. This is a topic that's near to my heart, we've been dealing with Anxiety for a few years with one of our kids. I'm always kind of amazed just how many people I've talked to have dealt with it as well. I'm excited to learn more ways to combat this in our lives and the lives of those around me.

You can check out the details on their website or the flyer below. If you order tickets before December 31st, you get the Early Bird rate, $35 off.

SEALed with Love

About the book: It isn't Sage Parker's fault that she mistakes former Navy SEAL Joel Watts as the stalker who had been sending her disturbing letters--he shows up every time she turns around. Too bad her father doesn’t tell her he sent Joel to protect her. When the stalker tracks Sage from LA to her new job in Colorado, she's glad to have Joel on her side. She didn’t plan to falling in love with him though—now if he would see her as more than just a client.

Joel takes his job as head of resort security seriously, but Sage is his number one priority, and the one woman he can’t get out of his mind. He isn't sure if he believes in her precognition, or some of her other hokey beliefs, but he soon finds he can't live without her. He just has to catch the stalker before he or Sage end up dead.

My review: I read the first of these DiCarlo Brides books quite a while ago. I remember liking it, but really not much more. After having read this one, I'm going to have to re-r…

Favorite Friday - Favorite Christmas Traditions

I thought that it would be fun to take a minute today to tell you about some of the things that our family loves to do in the Salt Lake area at Christmas time. Most of the things that we like to do cost very little money, but they are an integral part of our Christmas celebration.

One of the first things we do, each and every year is to go see the lights on Temple Square. This building is very important to us Latter-Day Saints (aka Mormons), we believe that in it our families can be sealed together for ever. We like to go see the lights the first weekend they are on and that's right after Thanksgiving. This year the weather was perfect that first weekend, we went Friday, the day they turn on the lights and it was 60 degrees outside. It was fantastic. There were crowds, but there almost always are. We like to go and eat dinner downtown (Usually either the Lion House or Nauvoo Cafe, we went to Nauvoo Cafe this year), and then you're there as soon as they turn the lights on. The l…

The Little Match Girl

About the book: It is Christmas Eve, but for one little girl, there will be no stockings hung lovingly above the fireplace or shiny presents wrapped under the tree. The best that the little match girl can hope for is a warm, dry corner of the street to protect her against the freezing snow that has been falling for hours.

Helpless and cold, the child seeks a bit of comfort from the only source she has—the bundle of matches in her apron pocket. She had struggled all day to sell even one, but the crowds of people had only hurried past her with hardly a glance as they finished up their holiday shopping and rushed home to begin their feasts. Alas, at least she has the matches now, each one holding the promise of a few short seconds of warmth and light.

But as she strikes each match, she discovers a truth that sets her heart soaring—all along, even in times when she has felt most alone, she has been lovingly watched over by those who have gone before her and have anxiously awaited a joyous r…
