Once Upon a Wish

About the book: Be careful what you wish for . . .

Delphine Baudry wished to be a best-selling author, and now instead of celebrating and jumping into her next novel, she's frozen with fear. What if she turns out to be a one-hit-wonder? What if all her new fans hate the next book? To top it all off, she can't even discuss the situation with her favorite brainstorming partner, her mother, who is losing her memory to Alzheimer's. Taking a cue from some teens tossing Euros into a fountain, Delphine gives into some whimsy and wishes for her next book plot.

Jean-Paul Chassériau wished to start an online marketing company in La Rochelle. Now the real work begins. Feeling pressure to live up to his father's name in traditional marketing and far enough away to be out of his shadow, he has a million ideas but no clients. When he finds a funky old Franc lodged between cobblestones near a fountain, there was only one thing to do. Make a wish.

When their coins collide, Delphine and Jean-Paul's wishes become intertwined, changing the course of their futures and teaching them that wishes are sometimes fulfilled in unexpected ways.

My review: I really enjoyed the premise behind this one! I loved the idea...what would happen if two people wishing at a fountain at exactly the same time met because their coins collided. And just what if those two people liked each other...where could their story go?

I really enjoyed Delphine's character. She's a writer, but she's getting a bit insecure because of the success she's had. She's not sure she can write a book as good as what she's already written. Thus the wish. I loved her dog and her love for her dog. I loved the way she writes out in the beautiful city of La Rochelle, so we can get a glimpse of it. I loved the way she writes in her apartment, constantly moving to her favorite spots.

Jean-Paul was a great character too. I loved the way he let Delphine kind of take over his life so that his every action was designed to spend more time with her. He had some of the most romantic and sweet ideas ever! I'd say more, but you really need to read it and discover them for yourself!

I enjoyed the plot. This is a light romance, but there's also some stuff going on in Delphine's family life that causes her some stress that she needs to overcome on her own. I was happy with the ending.

This is a cute book and don't miss all of the other Destined for Love Europe Romances, you'll feel as though you took a trip to Europe!

I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
