Blog Tour - Love on Pointe

About the book: Rhys Solario has a secret—one he plans to keep: he's a non-Mormon attending Brigham Young University. With only two semesters left before graduation, he just wants to keep flying under the radar. Then he meets Emmy in a Book of Mormon class, and for the first time, the idea of keeping to himself doesn't sound so appealing.

Emmy Jennings feels confident only when she's dancing ballet. With every plie and chasse, all her worries fade away. But when she fails to earn a coveted solo, her confidence on the dance floor disintegrates and the future she's worked so hard to earn stands in jeopardy.

Assigned to be study partners, both Rhys and Emmy face initial anxieties regarding who they really are. But slowly, their tentative friendship evolves into something more. Yet even as love deepens, the pair is faced with a disheartening truth: Rhys can't take Emmy to the temple, and the promise of eternity is not something Emmy's willing to give up. With everything on the line, the couple must decide if they're prepared to reshape their hearts—and their lives—for the promise of forever.

My review: Wow, I really loved this whole book! I loved the plot, I loved the characters, I loved the romance, I loved that I felt like I'd taken a trip south to Provo as I was reading it.

Let's start with the characters. Emmy is such a great character. I loved the strength she shows as she deals with her sister quitting ballet when her sister was, she felt, the only way she could learn the dances because of her dyslexia. I loved the way she deals with the dyslexia in her classes and I loved that she refused to let it define her, but she was willing to talk about it and get the help she needed.

Rhys was amazing too! I loved the way he had given up his dreams to care for his family. I really loved seeing him with his mom, it was obvious just how much he cared for her and wanted her to be okay. One thing that was really fun about him was that he is a non-member going to BYU. But this is where the trouble comes in. He's trying to keep himself aloof from everyone. And that doesn't work so well with Emmy, for some reason.

Rhys being a non-member is one of the things that makes the plot work. He doesn't mean to lie to Emmy, it just kind of happens. This causes some issues between them obviously, but it's not the only thing that keeps you guessing in this book. There are some pretty big wrenches thrown into the plot that I didn't see coming. I loved that it wasn't a predictable story.

I also enjoyed the definitions with each chapter. It was kind of fun how Emmy's are almost all ballet references while Rhys' are almost exclusively some of the common things we say in the LDS church. I loved reading them at the beginning of the chapters!

This is a great book that you won't want to put down! I loved every word and didn't want the story to end at all. I'm actually hoping for a novel about Rhys' roommate's search for love, or maybe Emmy's sister Evie's!

I was sent a coy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
