Favorite Friday - Bookroo

I want to tell you about something new I just discovered. I'm really excited about it, because it pretty much embodies what I'm all about, reading to kids! I have read to all of our kids ever since they were tiny and they are all super smart. One of my very favorite things is when our little guy brings me a book and asks me to read to him. He knows that I am for sure going to stop whatever I'm doing and read to him. No matter what.

I love our bedtime story time. It's so fun to see him excited about reading and to watch the way he is when he gets the story in some way. Sometimes there are jokes that you can tell he gets. Sometimes it's just the way he repeats the lines from the books sometime during the day. I love watching him learn through books.

Anyway...today I'm talking about Bookroo. I like that they are really all about getting kids excited about reading! Check out their mission statement. It's basically a subscription service for books for young kids. …

Sweet Illusions

About the book: Eva Malone was very young when her mother forced the family to join a violent doomsday cult, but she remembers a little about how normal life used to be. As a young woman, she escapes the cult with the help of an aid organization and relocates to Indigo Bay, South Carolina to pursue her dream of peaceful anonymity.
After several tumultuous years as a policeman in Atlanta, Ben Andrews has had enough. He returns home to Indigo Bay and joins the Indigo Bay PD, where the most exciting part of the job is getting a kitten out of a tree or rescuing tourists who lose their keys at the beach.

Eva and Ben are immediately drawn to each other. But as the prophesied date of the apocalypse draws near and the cult steps up its efforts to find her, Eva realizes she can’t maintain her sweet illusion forever.

My review: This book is perfect for summertime. I loved the whole feel of the book. Indigo Bay feels like a town that you would have fun getting lost in as a tourist, simply strollin…

Paige's Turn

About the book: With the encouragement of her beloved Aunt Mitzi, plain and overlooked Paige James left her hometown of Bella Port ten years ago and never looked back. But free-spirited Aunt Mitzi had plans for Paige to stop being pushed into the background. Those plans included leaving Paige as sole heir to her fortune and owner of her bookstore, Paige’s Turn. Begrudgingly, Paige returns home to fulfill her aunt’s last wishes, no longer the girl who’d left in baggy jeans and an ill-fitting t-shirt.

Paige discovers, though, that Mitzi’s last wishes include a lot of meddling in her love life. From the grave, and with the help of some friends, Mitzi has set out to make sure Paige and Bella Port’s most eligible bachelor, Sam Kennedy, find true love together. What Mitzi didn’t foresee is the firestorm and gossip she created that paints Paige as a swindler and liar, leaving Sam to wonder about the grown woman Paige has become. It doesn’t help when Paige fires him after their first meeting.…

Blog Tour - Heartbeat of the Bitterroot

About the book: Jenna Clark always tried to bury her bleak beginnings in Montana's Bitterroot Valley, but a newfound secret about her father's identity forces Jenna to dig up her past. While there, mysterious threats and dangers suddenly enter her life that bring about an unexpected man of her dreams--Michael Callahan. After a lifetime of running away from family and love will Jenna find the courage to confront her past and step forward into the future?

My review: I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the characters, the setting, the comparison of Jenna to the Bitterroot flowers, the story. So great all the way around!

I love the way Jenna discovers her strength throughout this story. At the beginning, she's just going about her normal things. She works at Delta in Missoula, Montana and her job involves a lot of making sure other people are happy. She also has a sort of boyfriend who is a lot of work and never seems to bother to listen to anything she says. I didn'…

Doing What We Came to Do: Living a Life of Love

About the book: What does it mean to live a life of love? Our capacity to give and receive love is a hallmark of discipleship, and evidence of our deepest desires and our understanding of God's plan for us.

Love helps us see ourselves as God sees us. Love enables us to bless others as we reach past our own concerns. Love provides opportunities to heal, to hope, and to have faith - even when dreams have to wait and the challenges of life weigh us down.

When we are filled with love, we can make a profound difference in our own lives, in our homes and circles of influence, and in the world in which we live. Love makes it possible for us to do what we came to do.

My review: I really enjoyed reading this book! I love the way this author writes. You can actually feel the love that she truly has for each and everyone of us radiating from it's pages. This is a small book. There are not terribly many pages and it's not very tall or wide. But I loved the amount of wisdom and advice cra…

Love in Light and Shadow

About the novella: Mercedes O’Shay has sworn off gorgeous men because they have a tendency to break her heart. When she meets her new neighbor, Chet Bauer, she immediately puts him in the Do Not Date category based on his well-defined muscles and stunning blue eyes. But the more Mercedes learns about the cowboy who reads classics and forges iron, the more she realizes the heart doesn’t see in black and white; it sees light and shadows.

My review: I love these Snow Valley novellas! I had read this one before in the Summer in Snow Valley Collection, but I enjoyed reading it again!

I really like Mercedes in this one. I love the independent streak she has. I love the way she loves her art and she enjoys fixing up old homes. I love her relationship with her sister, Cat. I love that she's willing to give Chet a chance, even after getting her heart broken.

And then there's Chet. He's a hard working guy who only wants to be able to keep his home and everyone in his family happy. And…

Book Blitz - Perfectly Oblivious

Cameron Bates (Cam) could have almost any girl at Franklin High School…except for the one he wants. Unfortunately, Bebe seems to be immune to his flirty charm and good looks, which means one of two things: a) she’s completely oblivious to how he feels, or b) she’s just not into him. If that’s the case, declaring his love would be disastrous for their friendship.
Bianca Barnes (Bebe) has a huge problem: the universe hates her. Every time she admits feelings for a boy, he ends up falling for her sweet, popular, and beautiful sister Beth. To avoid a broken heart, Bebe has sworn herself to secrecy. Nobody can ever know how she feels about Cam…Ever!

Favorite Friday - Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Friends

About the CD: The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has collaborated with some of the most legendary vocalists and performers over the years. For this album, the Choir has assembled an unprecedented collection of recordings taken from standout performances over the past 15 years. Most of these performances were recorded live at the 20,000+ seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City. In addition, some real gems were uncovered or created specifically for this album, including a performance recorded live before millions of viewers at the start of the 2002 Winter Olympics (Sting & Yo-Yo Ma performing "Fragile") and new recordings such as Amy Grant's "Thy Word," The King's Singers' "I'm Running On," and Santino Fontana's "He Lives in You."

My review: I really enjoyed this CD. This CD is a compilation of some of the songs they have done over the years with some of the different guest artists they have had during their concerts.I was amazed …

Beauty and The Billionaire Beast

About the book: Landscape architect Emma Treager is searching for answers to a family mystery. She stumbles across an important clue at the run-down Indio Pointe Plantation where mystery floats through the air like the ghosts of the former owners. She can’t pass up the job that property owner Theo Lambert offers like an enchanted rose, despite his reputation of being a beast of a boss. As the two of them delve into the secrets of the past, Theo and Emma discover that finding clues is almost as much fun as finding each other.

This contemporary retelling of Beauty & the Beast with a touch of Romeo & Juliet is the next sweet romance in the Destination Billionaire series.

My review: I don't know about you, but I really love reading these clean billionaire romances! I love the great escape they each are. This one is a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast and I love the contemporary spin that the author put on it!

I liked that you see the story through the eyes of both Emma and The…

Once Upon a Wish Book Splash

Happy book birthday to Danyelle Ferguson & her new release, Once Upon a Wish. This book birthday is extra special, as it marks her 10th published book! #HappyDance

A few years ago (Danyelle isn't divulging the exact number), she spent her senior year of high school as an exchange student in France. She lived on the coast, near the port of La Rochelle. The towers at the port marked her very favorite spot. She loved the cobblestone streets, the gorgeous architecture, and most of all, to look across the ocean, knowing that her family in Pennsylvania was just on the other side.

As a writer, one of her goals has been to write a book set in La Rochelle, France - and Once Upon a Wish made that dream come true. It's true that "Every dream fulfilled begins with a wish."

Be careful what you wish for . . .

Delphine Baudry wished to be a best-selling author, but now instead of celebrating and jumping into her next novel, she's frozen with fear. What if she turns out to be a …

Once Upon a Wish

About the book: Be careful what you wish for . . .

Delphine Baudry wished to be a best-selling author, and now instead of celebrating and jumping into her next novel, she's frozen with fear. What if she turns out to be a one-hit-wonder? What if all her new fans hate the next book? To top it all off, she can't even discuss the situation with her favorite brainstorming partner, her mother, who is losing her memory to Alzheimer's. Taking a cue from some teens tossing Euros into a fountain, Delphine gives into some whimsy and wishes for her next book plot.

Jean-Paul Chassériau wished to start an online marketing company in La Rochelle. Now the real work begins. Feeling pressure to live up to his father's name in traditional marketing and far enough away to be out of his shadow, he has a million ideas but no clients. When he finds a funky old Franc lodged between cobblestones near a fountain, there was only one thing to do. Make a wish.

When their coins collide, Delphine and J…

Desperately Seeking Mr Right

About the book: Phoebe wasn't looking for love in London. In fact, she had just gotten off a Reality Love TV show that didn’t end well. A simple baggage mix up introduces Phoebe to Bryan, and suddenly love seems like a possibility. But when the reality of the TV show catches up to her, Phoebe can't help but wonder if she will ever meet Mr. Right

My review: Wow, I really loved the way this book started out! I loved the whole mixed up suitcase way that Phoebe met Bryan. Imagine opening your suitcase after a rough day of travel to England and finding someone's kilt instead of your own skinny jeans!

Phoebe was a really fun character! I enjoyed the way she saw things. I liked that she was willing to give Bryan a chance, even though she's been burned before and this England vacation is kind of her breather after that.

I liked Bryan too. I liked how he was a true gentleman who didn't give up on Phoebe, even when it seemed like he maybe should. I did wish to see things from …

Then he meets Emmy in a Book of Mormon class, and for the first time, the idea of keeping to himself doesn't sound so appealing.

Yet even as love deepens, the pair is faced with a disheartening truth: Rhys can't take Emmy to the temple, and the promise of eternity is not something Emmy's willing to give up. With everyth…
