Precious and Grace

About the book: In this latest installment of the beloved and best-selling No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, Precious Ramotswe and Grace Makutsi help a young woman on a quest to find someone from her past.

Changes are afoot at the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, where Mma Makutsi, who has recently been promoted to co-director, has been encouraging Mma Ramotswe to update to more modern office practices. However, an unusual case will require both of them to turn their attention firmly to the past. A young Canadian woman who spent her early childhood in Botswana requests the agency's help in recovering important pieces of her life there. With only a faded photograph and, of course, some good old-fashioned detective skills to guide them, Precious and Grace set out to locate the house that the woman used to live in and the caretaker who looked after her many years ago. But when the journey takes an unexpected turn, they are forced to consider whether some lost things may be better o…

Favorite Friday - Love, Kennedy

For this week's Favorite Friday post, I want to tell you about something special I got to do just the other day. I got to go to a movie premier of a movie you are going to want to go see when it comes out next week. The movie is called Love, Kennedy and it's such a special movie.

Here's a little bit about the movie: LOVE, KENNEDY tells the inspirational true story of Kennedy Hansen, a funny, loving young woman whose health suddenly begins to fail. It takes years to find the cause – Juvenile Batten Disease – an extremely rare, horrible and inevitably terminal diagnosis. After living only 16 short years, Kennedy leaves behind an incredible legacy of love and friendship. But her story doesn’t end with her passing, it’s only then the true miracles really begin. LOVE, KENNEDY stars Jasen Wade (17 MIRACLES, THE COKEVILLE MIRACLE) as Jason Hansen, Heather Beers (CHARLY) as Heather Hansen, and Tatum Chiniquy as Kennedy.

What I thought: I loved everything about this movie. I loved th…

Blog Tour - J Golden Kimball

About the bookHe is J. Golden Kimball, and when he is gone, there will never be another. He was the original product, and when Providence had finished him, the pattern was lost and never found again.

LDS Church history is comprised of the accounts of multitudes of men and women who set the groundwork for the Church. And while there are plenty of ordinary individuals woven into that patchwork of history, there are also a handful of unique individuals who enliven the past and provide inspiration for the future. Known as the “swearing Apostle,” J. Golden Kimball is just such a character, one whose legacy of colorful language is surpassed only by his fierce loyalty to the gospel.

In J. Golden Kimball: The Remarkable Man Behind the Colorful Stories, readers are invited to come to better know this legendary man made famous by his unique humor and powerful testimony. From a chronicle of Kimball’s youthful adventures to the legacy he forged in his more than forty years as a General Authority,…

Love in Return

About the book: Thanksgiving was always Kayla’s favorite holiday—until her husband decided to leave her on the very day they should have been celebrating being together as a family. Two years later, the pain still isn’t gone, and while her family does their best to set her up, she’s perfectly happy raising her three children on her own.

When Andrew admits he’s never really been in to Thanksgiving, his good friend Josh invites him to come to his family dinner. Andrew wasn’t expecting to be welcomed with such open arms, and he especially didn’t expect to meet Josh’s beautiful sister Kayla.

While Kayla and Andrew hit it off immediately, Kayla still can’t bring herself to admit that she might be falling for someone new. Can Andrew prove that he’ll treat her right, or will she push away the man willing to heal her broken heart?

My review: This was a cute novella, I loved the cute plot and the characters.

Kayla is a single mom, trying to make everything work out for the best. She's even g…

Worth the Wrestle Audiobook!

I know I've already posted this review, but I was so excited to let you know that this book has now been added to Deseret Bookshelf Plus as an audio book. That means that if you have Bookshelf Plus, you can listen to Sheri Dew read this book herself, for FREE! And you can still try Deseret Bookshelf Plus for FREE for 30 days! What a great deal and so much fun!

About the book: Why can’t I seem to conquer weaknesses that plague me?” “How do I know if I’m receiving revelation?” “Will the Lord forgive me after what I’ve done?” “Why can’t we seem to get ahead financially even though we faithfully pay our tithing?” “What if the Church’s position on gay marriage bothers me?”

Those are just a handful of the countless questions Sheri Dew has heard people ask over the years. “May I answer these questions,” she writes, “and any questions you may have, by posing a different question: Are you willing to engage in the wrestle? In an ongoing spiritual wrestle?”

In Worth the Wrestle, Sheri examines …

Favorite Friday - Summer Fun - Get Away Today Vacations

How many of my amazing readers are getting ready for a summer vacation with their family??? I know my family is excited for summer and that's one of our favorite traditions. We don't quite know where we're going yet, but you can bet we'll get it figured out and booked right away. And if you have any tips for traveling with preschoolers, you're more than welcome to drop me a comment at the end. I think it would be fun to put together a post about traveling with kids and I'm sure you all have great ideas!

Today I want to tell you about a great company that I personally have worked with before. Get Away Today.

Get Away Today is really well known for their Disneyland vacations, but my family hasn't attempted that one yet. We have been to San Diego several times and they have great deals there as well on both hotels and the fun attractions everyone wants to go to. They have tickets to Legoland, San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo's Wild Safari Park. We used Get A…

Reluctant Rescue

About the book: Caylee Compton has determined she'll never commit to a man, especially a too-handsome, fun-sucker like volunteer firefighter, physician, and ex-military Captain Levi Turner. Levi determines to change her mind.

In the beautiful and exciting location of Lake Powell, Caylee fights valiantly to stay strong, but Levi's patience, kindness, and kisses might conquer even her commitment phobia.

My review: This was another one of the Park City Firefighter Romances and I LOVED it! I actually read this one first, so it was kind of fun to see the glimpses of Levi and Caylee that you got in Rescued by Love turn into real people in this one.

I liked Caylee. She is a strong young woman who is not looking for a relationship. She pretty much goes on one date with a guy and then he's gone. She has some serious trust issues from her family situation as a child and that makes it hard for her to commit to anyone. And Caylee knows Levi already because he's the brother of her b…

Blog Tour - Compassionate Soldier

About the bookCompassionate Soldier illuminates fascinating yet largely unknown stories of men and women whose humanity led them to perform courageous acts of mercy and compassion amid the chaos and carnage of war. Arranged by war from the American Revolution to the Iraq War and global in perspective, it features extraordinary stories of grace under fire from valiant soldiers and noncombatants who rose above the inhumanity of lethal conflict and chose compassion, even knowing their actions could put their lives and liberty at risk.

Included are the stories of Patrick Ferguson, a British officer during the American Revolution who had the chance to kill George Washington but refused to shoot a man in the back; Richard Kirkland, a Confederate soldier during the Civil War who took water to wounded Union soldiers during the battle of Fredericksburg; and Oswald Boelcke, a German WWI flying ace who was one of the most influential tacticians of early air combat and was known for making sure …

Rescued By Love

About the book: Captain Cameron Compton is content with his job as a firefighter and coaching a youth lacrosse team. He doesn’t need or want anything else in his life. Then a tall blonde schoolteacher parks her Jeep illegally in front of a fire hydrant, and one of his crew soaks it with water. Repentant but un-intimidated, she fires back at him, and he’s pulled in by her spunk.

Sage Turner has wished her entire life that she could shrink to a normal-sized woman. She hides her insecurities pretty well, but when she falls for a hot firefighter, she’s certain she’ll never be good enough.

Stranded together at her cabin, sparks start to fly, and Sage barely suppresses the urge to kick him out in a snowstorm.

A fire and a moose attack should bring them together, but instead, they might sever any hope of being rescued from the flames or loneliness.

My review: Wow, this is such a fun book! I really loved the whole premise of this one. Cam is firefighter just going about his own business, but …

Blog Tour - Wrong for You

About the book: Lane Bishop is a hardworking, intelligent, young woman. With her recent move to Chapel Hill, she is determined to leave behind the drama and effort of keeping up with the dating scene. Even so, Lane somehow manages to get dragged out by a gaggle of girls to go watch boys play soccer. Just watching is not Lane’s forte, so she joins in the fun and leads her team to victory.

Rather than feeling intimidated by the vivacious beauty on the opposing team, Jamie Hamilton is intrigued. Risking his “untouchable” dating status, he decides to pursue Lane—with a little help from his older brother Simon. With Simon’s behind-the- scenes assistance, Jamie proves irresistible, even to a disillusioned dater like Lane. But as she gets to know both brothers, Lane can’t help but wonder—beneath the grand gestures and romantic words, is she falling for the wrong guy?

My review: I'm always on the lookout for new books by my favorite authors and Jenny Proctor is one of them. I have loved eac…

Favorite Friday - Taggart's Grill

Taggart's Grill is my current favorite adult place. You know, the kind of place that is super yummy but a bit on the pricey side and there's no way you'd ever take your picky kids there, this is that place! It was my amazing mother-in-law's birthday last week and this is the place that we decided to go with the adults to celebrate.

I love their menu, there's something for everyone! In our group, we tried a little of everything. A lot of us had the enchiladas and they are so good! Someone had the soup and salad. Someone had the fish and chips. And several had hamburgers. There wasn't a complaint about anything we ate. The food is so good! Literally everything I've tried has been amazing.
And we tried something new this time. Their Rosemary Parmesan Bread. It looks like a roll in this picture, but it's huge! It's only $1.99 and seriously, 3 or 4 of us ate it. I had it with no butter and it was fantastic!
I love the setting, it's up Morgan canyon. …
