Blog Tour - How 4 Feet of Plywood Saved the Grand Canyon Review and Giveaway

About the book: History turns on small points. From the world's most catastrophic game of chicken to the nail-biting success story at the Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River, discover fascinating events you've probably never heard of. In this collection of eight true stories from the forgotten pages of history, learn about disasters caused by human error as well as calamities avoided by quick and clever thinking—the lawsuit that launched Abraham Lincoln's political career, the collapse of the Teton Dam, the invention that revolutionized the world of sound, and more. This book is truly love at first sight for lovers of history.

My review: I don't know if you've read any books by Jerry Borrowman, but if you haven't yet, do! I love the way that he writes, usually historical fiction, but this book was a treat to read as well.

I loved that Jerry Borrowman talks about things that I have heard about my whole life, but never really understood. Things like the Teton Dam…

The Woman Who Walked in Sunshine

About the book: In this latest installment of the beloved and best-selling series, Mma Ramotswe must contend with her greatest challenge yet—a vacation!

Business is slow at the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, so slow in fact that for the first time in her estimable career Precious Ramotswe has reluctantly agreed to take a holiday. The promise of a week of uninterrupted peace is short-lived, however, when she meets a young boy named Samuel, a troublemaker who is himself in some trouble. Once she learns more about Samuel’s sad story, Mma Ramotswe feels compelled to step in and help him find his way out of a bad situation.

Despite this unexpected diversion, Mma Ramotswe still finds herself concerned about how the agency is faring in her absence. Her worries grow when she hears that Mma Makutsi is handling a new and rather complicated case. A well-respected Botswanan politician is up for a major public honor, and his reputation is now being called into question by his rivals. The man’s sis…

Blog Tour - On the Edge

About the book: Everyone has had that one awful job, but Stuart Edge really had an awful job–cleaning porta-potties. As he cleaned, he dreamed of creating videos that not only made people laugh but also changed their lives. Now a YouTube sensation, Stuart shares his secrets to his YouTube success and reveals his conversion from self-conscious to confident and how being true to his beliefs made all the difference.

My review: I will just admit that I have never seen a Stuart Edge YouTube video. But after reading this book written by him about his life, I'll have to make time to!

I loved the way this book is written. Stuart Edge has a style that is interesting and I was kind of amazed by all of the life experiences that he had that made him who he is today.

I liked that he talked about making videos with a purpose and how he wanted those videos to reflect him and who he is. This book is a quick, easy read that you'll enjoy and that will leave you inspired and wanting to learn more…

The Christ-Centered Home

About the book: In the hectic scramble of a world that asks us to do everything, be everyone, and make it all look easy, we often lose track of the experiences that really matter most—quiet moments in our homes with our families when we feel the peace of Jesus Christ.

The lessons Jesus taught in the homes of His followers were simple. They were basic. And they were—and are—essential. In The Christ-Centered Home, you will discover how to fill your family's hearts with the principles Jesus taught in the most sacred of classrooms: the home.

There is a humility that comes when we invite the Lord into our most private spaces. Within the hush we hear the gentle whisper of His voice, we experience the touch of His hand, and we feel the prompting to rise. Invite Him in, and experience the added measure of peace, strength, courage, and hope that comes when Jesus Christ becomes the central focus of your home.

My review: I was excited to get this book to use. I love the way that Emily Belle Fre…

The McCarran Collection

About the book: Bridget Olasfson, a beautiful archivist hiding secrets, comes to Utah's brilliant red rock country to catalog the McCarran Collection. Though she's sworn off men in her life, she’s attracted to Ben, the bad-boy, off-road racing McCarran cousin. But it’s Lew McCarran, the tall, quiet cousin, she turns to when she finds herself caught up in a dangerous intrigue involving a lost boy, a drug cartel, and death. What will she do when the only way to save the boy is to give up the man she loves?

Part romance, part cozy mystery, part thriller, The McCarran Collection is, last of all, a novel about family ties.

From InD’Tale Magazine (four star review):
When archivist Bridget Olafson’s marriage crumbles in divorce after the death of her young son, she struggles to find something to live for. When an opportunity to catalogue an extensive wealth of historical family papers in the beautiful red rock country of Southern Utah [presents itself], she jumps at the chance. She f…

A Little in Love

About the book: Lilly has all but given up on her love life. It's been ages since she's even seen a smile from a guy, much less had a real conversation. Until she meets Travis--cute, in the hippie rugged way she likes, quirky, funny, charming, and completely NOT eligible. Expectant fathers on the labor and delivery floor of the hospital where she works generally aren't. Plus, a guy that would hit on a nurse while his wife is in labor? Yeah. Don't date that guy.

But there's more to Trav's story than Lilly first understands. Older brothers can be supportive too, after all. Despite their rocky start, and an old flame that just won't fizzle out already, Lilly and Trav hang onto their hopes that maybe, they really can have a future together.

My review: I LOVE the way Jenny Proctor writes romances! This is a cute, clean, fun, romantic novella that I didn't want to put down.

I love that Lilly from Love at First Note is back in this book and we get to see how sh…

My review: I loved the way this book starts out, with Maryn …

Unstuck

About the book: We've all been there. Each one of us has sins that, for one reason or another, we haven't been able to fully shake—we can't get ourselves "unstuck." Yet many of us have wanted to make that permanent change, to quit those repetitive sins once and for all. So here's the million-dollar question: how do you do it?

"Although damned and dammed are different words, they communicate the same message: progress is stopped! Robert Reynolds is the perfect one to teach us how to get unstuck. With real-world examples and a perspective from someone inside today's entertainment business, Robert reminds us that the Savior is the ultimate solution and living His gospel just makes sense. Get ready to lose any illusion you may have that you can do it alone. Thank heaven (literally) that no one has to."
—Brad Wilcox; BYU professor and author of The Continuous Atonement

"People who've sinned shouldn't consider themselves damaged goods or thi…

Blog Tour - Pride and Politics Review and Giveaway

About the book: As the daughter of a well-known senator, Summer Knight is all too familiar with the nasty side of politics. Blog Tour - Born to Treason

About the book: Joan Pryce is not only a Catholic during the English Reformation but also Welsh, and comes from a family of proud revolutionaries. But when a small act of defiance entangles her in a deadly conspiracy, a single misstep may lead her straight to the gallows. Now, Joan must navigate a twisting path that could cost her life, her freedom, and her chance of finding love.

My review: This book was amazing to me on so many levels. I liked Joan, I was saddened for her from the very beginning of the story. She's just lost her father, and she knows that he died because of his Catholic religion. She's about to lose her home because her father's successor's are kicking her out of it. And she wants to continue in her Catholic religion, a lot of that has to do with her dead mother's teachings, but she knows that her life will end the exact same way that her father's just did. So she takes courage and goes to her godparent's home, hoping that she will be able…

About the book: I have never had really great luck with vegetable gardens. But I was planning to have one this year, so I was really excited when I found this book. I've used this book lots of times when I've had questions on what to plant, when to plant it and how to take care of it. I like that there are sections in the front talking about gardening in general and then there are the sections devoted to each kind of vegetable. I love that I can access these any time that I want or need to in order to properly grow and harvest my vegetables. I'm way excited to be able to use this boo…
