Blog Tour - The Last Descent DVD

About the Movie: The details of the passing of John Jones in Nutty Putty Cave have been well documented, but his story did not end there. Witness the power of love, family, and the Plan of Salvation in this critically acclaimed film that shows that family bonds extend beyond this life.

My review: Wow, this movie really touched me. I spent a good deal of it in tears and not pretty ones at that! I remember hearing about John and how he was stuck in the cave and didn't make it, but there were a lot of details about his situation that I didn't remember. And there's no way that I could have known the story of his life, but this film shows that.

I loved the actors in the movie, especially Josh, his wife and the rescuer Aaron. I thought that they all did an amazing job portraying the characters that they were supposed to portray.

I will admit that the scenes where they are caving in the cave were a bit claustrophobic for me. That shows you just how real it seems. I really felt from the way that they filmed it that I was down in the cave with John and it really felt scary. I liked the way they showed Aaron and John conversing about their respective lives amid the danger that John faced, and that Aaron appeared to have learned from John and wanted to change. And I LOVED the part where Aaron and John sing "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing." That was beautiful, touching and it brought tears to my eyes.

I knew from the start that this movie would not have a truly happy ending, but I thought that the ending was beautiful. It is a fitting tribute to John, his family, and his life. Make sure you watch the DVD! And make sure you have a box of tissues nearby!

I was sent a link to watch this movie in exchange for an honest review.
