The Protective One

About the book: Sweet romance by bestselling inspirational author, Cami Checketts
Betrayed by an FBI agent while in protective custody, MacKenzie Gunthrie escapes a crime lord and is left hiding from the authorities and her enemies. She finds solace in the peaceful mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado. With help from a longtime girl's camp friend and a new identity, she's starting to feel safe. The only problem is the overconfident and much too good-looking Isaac Turnbow. Protecting identity has become second nature, but Isaac poses a threat to her heart.

Isaac Turnbow has an undeniable need to convince MacKenzie he’s someone she can trust and kiss, but when well-armed men arrive to disturb their budding relationship, he must prove to her and himself that he can protect her.

This fast-paced, clean Billionaire Bride Pact Romance is a fun and touching read you won’t be able to put down.

Bonus chapters by Lucy McConnell and Jeanette Lewis.

My review: I enjoyed the whole premise behind this one. MacKenzie is an amazing young woman, not only has she escaped being killed once by a couple of crazy crime lords, she escapes a second time when they attack her FBI protected safe house and hides herself as best as she can without current ID or a fake name. I loved the fact that MacKenzie's good friend Haley needs some help, so MacKenzie offers, excited to get to know Haley's brother Isaac better. Isaac was MacKenzie's first kiss and she's hoping that something more will happen between them, but she's disappointed when it seems that Isaac remembers nothing about the time they had spent together when they were teenagers.

Isaac is a great guy. I had to laugh a little bit when circumstances kept making him out to be the bad guy. I loved that he does remember MacKenzie and wants to be sure to protect her from the people he knows are only out to hurt her. I thought that it was super sweet when MacKenzie realized that she needed Isaac and allowed him to help her, even though she doesn't necessarily feel safe with him - not really not physically safe, she's trying to protect her heart from being hurt.

This is a cute, clean, quick read that will take you to the cute little town of Crested Butte, Colorado. I loved it!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
