Blog Tour - For Sale by Owner Review and Giveaway

About the book: Stressed by a year of intense and ongoing problems, McKenzie Forsberg quits her high-powered job to move back to her hometown. Determined to rebuild her life, Kenzie desperately needs the peace and security she is sure will come from buying the home she grew up in. But when she arrives, Kenzie finds that a handsome widower, Jared Rawlins, also wants the house. The only thing that gives Kenzie hope is the stipulation that Jared can only close the deal if he sells his own house by Christmas Eve.

Jared is more than a little interested in Kenzie, but has second thoughts when it appears she may be sabotaging the sale of his home. He and Kenzie engage in a battle of wits, which pulls them together even as it pulls them apart. Despite themselves, sparks of attraction grow into something more. Then, Kenzie makes a stunning discovery about her past. Will the power of love be enough to bring Jared and Kenzie together and allow them to find their happily ever after?

My review: Wow, I really loved everything about this book! I loved Kenzie, she's had a hard last few years with getting divorced and becoming single and a parent to her cute daughter Sara and dealing with a creeper at her job didn't help anything. But things are looking up for her, she's got a new job and she's planning to move back to her hometown, Lake Forest, and buy her brother's house, she can't wait to tell him on Christmas morning...but then she sees the sold sign in his front yard and she can't believe it.

I loved the tenacious way that Kenzie goes about her life. She knows that her brother's house has sold, but she keeps trying to come up with any way that she can for her to end up with the house that she grew up in, not Jared. What was kind of funny is that she ends up talking the person who was planning to buy his house out of it, without even knowing that she had. And then came the guilt. I liked that Kenzie was willing to work very hard to make sure that Jared's house sold in time, even though she knew that it was her that would miss out.

I liked Jared too, he also has had a hard few years. His wife died, leaving him alone with their son. Moving to a new town and starting a new business hasn't been a walk in the park either, yet he gets up every morning and is both dad and mom to his young son.

The plot of this one is cute. I loved that there is a cute love story but also a cute story from the early years of Kenzie's life that ends up coming full circle before the book ends.

This is a cute, clean, fun book that you won't want to put down, I know I didn't!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
