About the book: Book two in the Three Rivers Ranch Romance series by bestselling author, Liz Isaacson.
First Lieutenant Peter Marshall has never felt as safe and whole as he does at Three Rivers Ranch. With massive scars covering most of his upper body, he's self-conscious and searching for his life's purpose. He thinks he's found it in Courage Reins, an equine therapy program for veterans he's starting out at the ranch. He didn't plan on the beautiful Chelsea Ackerman looking at his deformities with admiration.
After her second failed engagement, Chelsea vows she'll never wear another diamond ring. But as she and Pete work together to train the horses and launch Courage Reins, she heals faster than she thought possible. Pete has a truckload of debt and no way to provide for a family, but Chelsea helps him see past all the obstacles, all the scars. With so many unknowns, Pete and Chelsea will have to develop the love, acceptance, and faith needed to find their happily ever after.
My review: This book is billed as an inspirational romance and I'd have to say that that description is perfect. This book is a cute, clean, fun romance that you will love reading.
Chelsea is hurting. Her fiance killed himself and there wasn't a thing she could do to help him. She's also hurting because he was verbally abusive and that's something she's going to have to work through. Either way, she is convinced that there is no way that she's ever going to get engaged again. She decides to head back to her family's ranch, Three Rivers Ranch, to see if she can heal from her scars.
And that's when she meets Pete. Pete is a war veteran with scars that are obvious. But he immediately recognizes Chelsea's hidden scars and knows that he can help her. He runs a program, Courage Reins, where he uses horses to combat such scars for veterans, and really anyone that needs such help. Chelsea pretty much refuses to allow him to help her with the horse therapy, believing that she's fine and doesn't need any help. But I love the way that she jumps in to help him with the program. Doing everything from setting up a website to helping him get funding without complaint.
I loved this book. It's a cute, fun romance that you won't want to put down.
