Blog Tour - Escape to Eden

Run now!

When seventeen-year-old Sage wakes up in a hospital with no memories, her only clue are the words written on her hand. With a deadly disease threatening to wipe out mankind, Sage must find out who she is and why most people would kill to get their hands on her--before it's too late. This fast-paced, futuristic thriller is a spine-tingling read!

Rachel McClellan was born and raised in Idaho, a place secretly known for its supernatural creatures. When she's not in her writing lair, she's partying with her husband and four crazy, yet lovable, children. Rachel's love for storytelling began as a child when the moon first possessed the night. For when the lights went out, her imagination painted a whole new world. And what a scary world it was...

Wow, this book really creeped me out when I first started reading it. The main character, Sage, wakes up in a hospital like setting with absolutely no idea who she is, where she is or how she got there. She had to wait quite a long time for the drugs that she had been given to wear off in order to remember who she was. It was really cool that even though she didn't remember who she was, she still knew exactly what she had to do in order to escape from the place where she was being held prisoner.

Sage wakes up in basically a foreign world. She's all alone, except for a small boy that she instinctively knows she needs to care for. She has to escape the hospital that she's in and ends up having to leave the boy behind in order to do so, which leaves her feeling guilty. She discovers that she is what is called an Original, having all of the original human DNA, very rare in the world she finds herself in. The Institute, basically the government of America at this point takes DNA from Originals and inserts it into everyone else in order to "fix" the altered DNA and hopefully allow those individuals to live a little bit longer.

I loved the way that Sage was almost instinctively able to know who to trust and what she needed to do in order to beat the characters that she couldn't trust. Sage is an amazing character, she's honest and she cares for those around her. That's a big thing in the world that she wakes up in. The characters around her have grown to where they no longer care about the world or others around them because they are only going to live a very short life and they know it. Their lives are all about themselves and trying not to get too close to anyone else. Sage is able to change that for those she meets and grows to care for.

I loved Anthony, Jenna and Colt. They're all quite interesting characters. Anthony is older, he believes that he can help create a better world than he currently lives in if he can save some Originals. Jenna is about 13 going on 30. None of the characters in this world live a long time so they grow up really fast. Imagine a 30 year old with the hormones of a 13 year old and you've got Jenna. Colt was kind of a wild card because Sage knows from the beginning that he's done something that goes against everything Anthony and Jenna were fighting for. He's also a Noc, he has wings and can fly when he needs to.

The sheer amount of crazy characters in this book is amazing. Each character is a different type of being, they have different strengths and weaknesses. I was amazed at the level of imagination that went into the characters. There are very smart big brained characters, characters so tall they can't bend in half, Noc's like Colt.

This book is a crazy adventure ride that will leave you reeling when it's over. I know that I'm really interested to see just what will happen next to Sage and really all of the characters that I met in this book!

I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
