Blog Tour - 52 Weeks to Fortify Your Family

About the book: Arm your children against the fiery darts of the adversary. These small and simple daily devotionals will help them make good decisions and strengthen their testimonies. Designed to get your family studying the scriptures, this book includes a new theme for each week and new scriptures, quotes, and questions for each day so you can discuss the gospel together. Quick and easy, this book will help keep your family close to the Spirit.

My review: This book is a great idea! It's set up with a weekly topic, things such as kindness, charity, happiness, honesty. Then each day there is a thought along with a scripture that can be read. I love how it's set up so that you can expand on the topics for your family home evening lessons too. This is such a great idea. I've been using it along with our morning family prayer before our kids head out the door to school. I really like that the topics are something that our family has been needing help with. This is a great bo…

Blog Tour - Embark

About the cd: An ideal talk that supports the new 2015 Mutual theme!

In this motivating talk related to the 2015 youth theme, John Bytheway explains what it means to truly embark — to get fully on board in the service of God with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Using scriptures, powerful stories, and his characteristic humor, John explains that with the Savior's help, we can remain on board and eventually stand blameless before God at the last day.

My review: This is a great talk on the new theme for the youth. I love the way that John Bytheway talks, he is really easy and fun to listen to. He not only has great jokes, but he's able to relate them to the hard things that the youth are going through. I love how he references prior conference talks and also the scriptures. There is a part where he talks about Alma the Younger that was particularly insightful. I loved how he talks to the youth about "staying on the train." This CD is great for youth or really a…

Blog Tour - Keeping Kate

About the book: Orphan Kate Evans is determined to make a life for herself on a Utah ranch, taking care of a little girl named Addie. But when she meets her irritable employer, Kate is forced to confront the past she's been running from and face a future she never dreamed possible. This latter-day twist on the classic Jane Eyre is a romantic and gripping read.

My review: I really enjoyed this book! I hadn't realized before I started to read that it was a twist on Jane Eyre, which was one of my favorite books as a girl. But as I was reading I kept thinking that it seemed kind of like Jane Eyre, so I'd have to say that Lauren Farnsworth did a great job staying true to the original book. I enjoyed the character of Kate, she's spunky and I really loved how she stays true to herself and her convictions throughout the whole book, even when faced with opposition from the little bit of family she had and friends she made along the way. I enjoyed the romance that was included in…

Undercover Engagement

About the book: Alyssa Eastman is engaged to the man of her dreams. Jason is smart, attractive, and he makes her laugh. When the couple is attacked by a group of men who call Jason by an assumed name, shoot holes in his beautiful car, and try to run them off the road, Alyssa learns her perfect fiancĂ© is also the perfect spy. With his cover blown, the only way to bring down an international terrorist group is for Alyssa to steal the information. She agrees to help, putting her life on the line; but, putting her heart on the line and marrying a man who lied to her about his identity (albeit for national security – but still!!) is a much harder decision.

My review: I really enjoyed this book. It was kind of fun how Alyssa thought she had found the man of her dreams, and was taking him home to meet her family. That's when all the craziness started. They were attacked by some crazy people, going to meet her family was out of the question, and she discovered that Jason is really an under…

Strength to Endure

About the book: A historically rich tale, Strength To Endure expertly portrays the consequences of war and the ability of the human spirit to conquer all.

Anneliese Klein was just a small girl when Hitler came into power in her home country of Germany. Fear and uncertainty were as much as part of her childhood as dolls and tea parties. As she grew up, the war crept even closer to home, taking first her two brothers and then her father. Eventually it claims the man she loves. How will she survive these horrors? And what will become of her unborn child?

My review: This book really touched me. I enjoyed the character of Anneliese, and I felt just how confused she was with the way her world was changing. First her brothers were acting differently than they ever had. Then they disappeared. Next her father disappeared, never to be heard from again. Finally, Annaliese and her husband were taken and she had a pretty good idea what had become of him. But she had to stay strong, because she herse…

And with time running out to foil her clumsy captors, Jane must rely on unconventional methods if she has any hope of slipping through their clutches. Who knew that the lessons learned in Relief Society would come in handy in the face of dis-organized crime?

My review: This book is a little bit crazy. It follows the adventures of a normal Cub Scout den mother, Jane, as she is kidnapped and forced to make on…
