Drop Zone

About the book: Paige Vickers needs a new life, so she's relieved when she's given an assignment that takes her away from her stressful position as a psychiatric nurse with the CIA and puts her in a job as administrative assistant for Vanessa Johnson, an instructor for undercover operatives at the CIA's training facility.

At the same time, Damian Schmitt has been transferred to become a part of the Saint Squad — an elite group of Navy SEALs. However, on his first training mission with the team, he is almost killed, and the team suspects that the nearly fatal exercise was no accident. Then tensions accelerate when the rest of the squad is deployed on a secret mission — only to come up missing.

When the Saint Squad's disappearance endangers Paige's boss, it is up to Paige and Damian to discover what has happened by going undercover to Maracaibo, Venezuela, the city of Damian's childhood. The shocking twists and turns keep all the members of the team guessing as they push to find out who is responsible for the attacks on the tightly knit Saint Squad.

My review: It's that time of year again...time to (try really hard to) read all of the Whitney Finalists. I really enjoy reading all of these great books written by amazing Latter-Day Saints. I was so excited to be able to read this one, Traci Hunter Abramson is one of my very favorite authors. Her books are always filled with action and adventure, they have amazing characters that I've grown to love and they keep me glued to the page with a great plot. This book was no different.

I loved the characters in this one. This one actually introduced two new characters into the Saint Squad group, Paige is a young nurse looking for a change. She's made Vanessa's new assistant and knows right away that this is not going to be your normal assistant job. She is quickly put to the test as one thing after another goes wrong with the Saint Squad's latest assignment. Damian is a Navy Seal added to the Saint Squad, he feels left out in the group because they've all been together for so long, and it doesn't help that when the squad is given a new assignment he's left home. It ends up being Paige and Damian's job to figure out just what is going on and who is behind all of the craziness for the team. Luckily they work well together. I love that this author is able to weave romance, suspense and adventure into a book that I didn't want to put down. I loved this book! Every bit of it was amazing. Make sure to pick it up!

I was sent an e-copy of this book by the Whitney Award committee for voting purposes.
