Cover Reveal and Giveaway - Saving Marilee

Coming May 1, 2015 - Saving Marilee by Annette K. Larsen

Saving Marilee by Annette K. Larsen Marriage wasn’t bliss—not for Marilee. Instead of finding contentment with the handsome son of a sovereign duke, she found betrayal and neglect. And fear. A fear that finally lifts when her husband dies, freeing her from his domineering hand. But freedom alone can't give her peace, and she must battle to regain her love for life, rebuild her happiness, and reclaim the ability to trust. When her charming neighbor intrudes on her quiet life, offering his friendship (and a dog, of all things), she must determine whether his interest is genuine, whether he is a friend or foe, and whether he deserves the fragile bit of trust she has managed to scrape together.

Blog Tour - Sacramental Reflections

About the book: These devotional reflections from the heart of Truman Madsen can help bring you face to face with yourself as you prepare to meet Christ at the sacrament table each week. Each page explores a separate idea pertaining to the sacrament and gives insights into the events surrounding the Last Supper, the Atonement, and the Crucifixion.
There is a feast awaiting the honest guest who accepts the Lord's invitation to bring to the altar a "broken heart and a contrite spirit." Alma promises it will "begin to be delicious" (Alma 32:28) and that "ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled" (Alma 32:42). Brother Madsen helps us to access these blessings.

Find new meaning in the sacrament and new resolve as you reflect upon and participate in this sacred ordinance.

My review: This is a great book! I loved it starting with a quote I found in the introduction by the author's wife Ann Madsen. She says, "When we had been married abou…

Loving Helen

About the book: From Amazon Top 100 Regency Romance author, Michele Paige Holmes, comes LOVING HELEN, a regency romance from the Hearthfire Romance series. Revisit the characters from SAVING GRACE in this story of Grace’s shy, younger sister.

Eighteen-year-old Helen Thatcher grew up under the protection of her older siblings, Grace and Christopher. Living in their shadows and keeping to herself suited Helen just fine—until she met widower Samuel Preston. Watching Mr. Preston care for his young daughter and seeing his concern extend to her own family, Helen felt her reserve slipping away, as she learned first to trust him and then realized she had fallen in love with him. But instead of returning—or even noticing her affection—Mr. Preston developed his own tender, and unrequited feelings, for Grace.

In the midst of each silently nursing their broken hearts, Helen and Samuel are faced with a daunting task—reuniting Grace with her fiancĂ©, Nicholas Sutherland. Now it is Helen who must loo…

Blog Tour - Summer Campaign

About the book:Miss Onyx Hamilton is about to make what everyone agrees is a perfect marriage—until handsome Major Jack Beresford comes galloping into her life. But with his fortune and connections, Onyx knows he’d never ask for her hand, would he? New and longtime fans alike will relish this delightful romance from Carla Kelly. Charming, sweet, and full of fun, it’s simply impossible to stop reading.

My review: This book was awesome! I loved Onyx, I loved the way that she was a strong woman, full of pluck and courage. She didn't want to marry Andrew Littletree, but knew that she really had no choice. She was an illegitimate baby, brought up by a pastor who had died, left with his widow and her new husband. I didn't like the way that Andrew Littletree treated her, he seemed to look down on her and acted like he was way better than she was. I was glad to see Jack Beresford come into her life in the stormy way that he did. I also thought it was great that he kept his wealth from …

Eve: In the Beginning

About the book: The first love story on earth... Haunting... Lyrical... Unforgettable...

In a world where everything is perfect, yet the same day after day, Eve must decide if she wants to live forever in the garden with Adam and never know what lies beyond the walls. When she makes a choice with terrible consequences, the pain of mortality is swift. As she and Adam explore their new world, and her body changes, Eve discovers the sweetness of first love with the man who has always been at her side.

My Review: Wow, I have never thought of the story of Adam and Eve in this way before! I loved this book! I loved the way that Adam and Eve are portrayed. This book takes Adam and Eve from their beloved home in the Garden of Eden, through their fall and into the wilderness, cut off from the God they once were on intimate terms with.

I liked that the book showed some of both Adam's and Eve's views, during and after their time in the Garden. I loved that it made me think more about Adam …

Blog Tour - House Divided

Tour Schedule

House Divided There is a law irrevocably decreed in the state of Alabama that you must choose a team. You're either an Auburn fan or an Alabama Fan. There is no fence sitting or waffling. It’s one or the other. However, it doesn't mean that you can’t fall in love with someone from the opposing side. They even have a name for it ... House Divided. Ellie Eaton and Brady Jackson were just such a couple, but unfortunately they were separated by more than just their loyalty to a university. Against the odds and against the rules, Ellie and Brady dove right into the forbidden current of friendship and then love. Their sweet, innocent romance was one for the storybooks, but old rules and family prejudices ultimately tore them apart, just as they were each ready to depart to their beloved universities, Ellie to Auburn and Brady to Alabama. Blog Tour - Maximus

About the book: Maximus has never known peace. In command of one of Rome's finest legions, he and his closest friend, Androcles, have fought side by side to uphold the glory of the empire.

But at the end of a long and bloody campaign, Maximus begins to question his purpose, his past, and the gods he has been taught to believe in.

When word reaches Rome of a man named Jesus who is causing a stir in faraway Judaea, Maximus and Androcles are sent, disguised as Jews, to ascertain the truth of the situation: Is this Jesus merely a radical preacher, or is he instigating a revolution against Rome?

As Maximus immerses himself in Jewish culture, he must confront questions that could change his life: Is it possible this carpenter from Nazareth is the Son of God? Is it possible for a man of war to live a life of peace?

"This is a powerful novel on a grand scale with some of the great Biblical epics of the past. Sweeping motivations and grueling battles, both emotional and physical, fill its…

Courtships of the Prophets Quiz

Covenant has a new book coming out called Courtships of the Prophets, it looks pretty great. Something I think is really cool is that they have a quiz that goes along with it. This quiz was hard, I think there were 11 questions and I only got 4 of them right. Make sure you check it out!
Powered by Interact
Here's a little about the book:
"One evening ... I was standing on Thatcher's Main Street, waiting for the jitney bus, when Spencer Kimball came along. He introduced himself and ... we sat together on the bus and discussed Shakespeare and similar highbrow subjects, each hoping to impress the other." —Camilla Kimball
It's an age-old story: boy meets girl, love blossoms, and they live happily ever after. Nowhere is this timeless tale more beautifully depicted than in the lives of the Presidents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Courtships of the Prophets allows readers a captivating look into some of the most cherished memories of the prophets—th…

Blog Tour - Real Moms Making it Up as We Go

About the bookI didn’t have gold shoes, and I didn’t have time to go shopping, but I thought I could just spray-paint some heels I owned that I never really wore. I spray-painted them and tried them out for three hours at church where they held up perfectly. I felt pretty good about myself. “Suckers who buy gold shoes when they could just spray-paint them,” I thought, congratulating myself for my frugality and my foresight for testing them out.

As moms, we improvise. We get along. We make things word. And we make a lot of things up as we go along because, let’s face it, no manual is ever going to cover all the bases a real mom needs to touch. But if laughter and perspective and a renewed energy to face the day are what you’re after—if you too are a “real mom”—this is the book for you!

My review: This is a super fun book! I love the humor that Lisa Valentine Clark shares in this book. I love how she's titled each chapter with a title, but underneath that there is one or two alterna…

Blog Tour - I Hope They Call Me On a Mission

About the book: It’s never too young to prepare! This charmingly illustrated picture book teaches children what it’s like to be a missionary, from riding a bike to studying the gospel to having a companion, and everything they can do now to be ready so that when the time comes, they’ll be the best missionaries they can be. Colorful and cute, it’s a perfect gift for baptisms and birthdays.

My review: This book is super cute. It depicts two young children with a desire to learn more about what it's like to be a missionary. So they write a letter to their Uncle asking. What he tells them teaches them not only what it's like to be a missionary, but also how they can prepare now to be a good missionary. I loved the cute illustrations. I loved the things that their uncle tells them, but my favorite part was that the kids learn ways that they can be a good missionary even as a child. This is a great book to read to children!

I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest …

Blog Tour - What is Lost

About the book: Angry at his failure to exact vengeance on the prince, mask maker Joch flees Venesia to find his lost love. When a red-cloaked assassin promises answers, he has little choice but to trust her -- even though he knows he may be walking into a trap. Unravel the deception in this dazzling story of second chances that will keep you guessing to the last page.

My review: I really enjoyed reading this one. It was really fun to me that the main character and point of view comes from The Chameleon who was the bad guy in What Is Hidden (speaking of which, make sure to read that one first so that you understand what's going on.) I liked that we got a glimpse into what Joch was thinking and just why he did what he did in the first book. I wanted to not like him, but found myself liking and even feeling a little bit sorry for him and the things that he had gone through. Kit is a woman that appears to be an assassin after Joch, but she isn't in any hurry to kill him, in fact s…

Blog Tour - To My Friends

About the book: "If you need a burden lifted, I want you to imagine I am in a personal, private, closed-door chat with you. I want to help you if I can." With those words, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland invites every reader of his latest book to become a friend, to receive instruction and encouragement, counsel and comfort.
Elder Holland addresses these powerful messages "to my friends who love the Lord," "to my friends who want to change," "to my friends who face opposition," and more. Each chapter begins with a beautifully designed quotation to help convey the message in an artistic way, making the book a lovely gift for friends to share. Throughout, Elder Holland's powerful witness of the Savior shines through, for, as he writes, "I am grateful for the greatest friend any of us could ever have, in time or eternity, the Lord Jesus Christ."

My review: I don't know about you, but I love the way that Elder Jeffrey R Holland teaches, he …

Blog Tour - Silence

About the book: Stella was born to sing. Someday Broadway. But everything changed when a tragic accident renders her deaf; she cannot hear, much less sing. Trapped in a strange new world of total silence, she must face not only the loss of her friends, her hopes, and her voice but also the loss of her identity and her life's purpose. Who is she is she's not a singer?

Hayden is a quiet loner, an outcast, and the only person Stella can communicate with; his profound stutter makes him speak so slowly, she is able to easily read his lips. But is it a romance that can last if Stella regains her hearing and resumes her former life?

Alternating between Stella's and Hayden's points of view, Silence is a lyrical story of self-discovery, romance, and resilience, of two souls learning how to find their voices and break through the silence.
