A Longtime (and at one point illegal) Crush

About the book: From the day Elsie’s older brother brought his friend Kye McBride over to their house, Elsie adored him. When she was eight, she secretly blew kisses to him. When she was twelve, she sat on the stairs unnoticed and watched him escort another girl to prom. When she was a senior in high school, she walked into math class and found out he was her new math teacher.

With that much emotion fueling her, things were bound to go wrong. And they did. Elsie not only spent the last two weeks of school avoiding him, she turned avoiding-Kye-at-all-costs into her life-long philosophy.

Now three years have passed and Elsie has come home for her brother’s wedding. She’s got to face Kye-–hopefully without getting crushed again.

My Review: This book was super fun! I think you really can't go wrong with a Janette Rallison story. They are always full of great characters, fun plot lines and sweet, clean romance. This book was no exception. I love how we meet Elsie, she's headed home from school for the first time in several years. She doesn't want to see her brother's best friend, Kye McBride, but when she goes past his house, there are some cows in the road that refuse to budge. She honks, but even more cows come and soon her car is surrounded. The smart thing for her to do would be to shut off the car and wait for the cows to leave, but she can't because her car has been acting up and may not start again. Elsie is uncertain what to do, when Kye shows up behind her on his horse. Of course, he has found her in the most embarrassing situation possible. I love Elsie, it's fun to see things through her eyes. I really liked that Elsie also looked backward in her story, so you knew what happened both before the story and during the story. I can't wait for more books by Jannette Rallison!
