Blog Tour - The Tuttle Twins Learn About the Law

About the book: Children are often taught that government protects our life, liberty, and property, but could it be true that some laws actually allow people to hurt us and take our things? Join Ethan and Emily Tuttle as they learn about property, pirates, and plunder. With the help of their neighbor Fred, the twins will need to figure out what they can do to stop the bad guys in government!

My Review: This is such a cute book! The illustrations are really great. I really like the way that this book teaches about the problems in our government in a way that is non-offensive and easy for even children to understand. I also like the way the Tuttle twins are empowered in the book, they learn just what they can do to make the world a better place and they are even able to put that lesson into practice in the short space of 30 pages. This is a fun book you won't want your kids to miss.

My Sweetheart

About the book: Jane Kendall loves her new life. She loves baking. She loves working with her sisters. And oh yeah, she loves Tate Matafeo most of all. Which would be great if he loved her back. Jane refuses to let heartbreak rule her life though, so she turns to Google and finds 10 easy steps on How To Fall Out Of Love. As helpful as Google is, Tate Matafeo is a hard habit to break especially when her new friend Meredith insists she come to a Rugby game and Tate happens to be on the team. Alex Foster is one man willing to take her mind off of Tate, but Jane knows trouble when she sees it and ends up getting a restraining order. Between Kit's wedding, Tate's mixed signals, Alex's obsession and her father's rehab, Jane wonders if she'll ever get her happy ending.

My Review: I have to admit that Jane was my favorite of the Kendall sisters, so seeing the world through her eyes made me happy! Jane is just a sweetheart, she loves Tate, but it doesn't seem as though t…

I Belong With You

About the book: Kit Kendall moved to Fircrest with her sisters, Layla and Jane in the hopes of starting over. Baking bread instead of painting is quite the transition but she's never been happier in her life. Too bad life has a habit of throwing her curve balls and Rob Downing, the owner of the Iron Skillet might just be too much to handle. She's not sure whether or not she should catch him or throw in her mitt. Especially when Hunter shows up and decides she's the woman for him. As Kit tries to figure out what her heart has been telling her all along, the bakery comes under attack from a saboteur intent on ruining Belinda's Bakery. With Layla and Michael's wedding only weeks away, they're determined to find the culprit because no one's getting in the way of this happy ending.

My Review: After I read "You Belong With Me" I knew that I wanted to finish the series, so I bought the other two from Amazon and I'm glad that I did. I really enjoyed Ki…

You Belong With Me

About the book: Layla Kendall is the oldest of three sisters. She's a burned out social worker one step away from a major depression and she needs a fresh start. When she and her sisters Kit and Jane inherit their grandmother's bakery, she doesn't know if she can trust her good fortune or not. Life has taught her that happiness is just an illusion. But the chance to be with her sisters and get away from the heart ache and pain she's faced day in and day out is a chance she's going to take. The fact that they don't know anything about running a bakery won't stop them. With Layla's new life, come new connections and friendships including Michael Bender, a single dad and someone who wouldn't mind getting to know Layla better. She doesn't trust men and she doesn't want to change her mind but Michael's little girl Stella grabs her by the heart and won't let go. When Layla and her sisters realize that there are people who want to see them …

Desperate Measures

About the book: When you’re the frazzled mother of eight rambunctious children, there’s little in life that throws you for a loop. So thinks Mormon mom extraordinaire Annie Fisher . . . that is, until she finds herself embroiled in the baffling disappearance of family friend Angus Puddicombe. Following the delivery of a puzzling message and a few startling discoveries, all signs point to—confusion. What Annie knows for sure is that Angus is in over his head, and there is no time to lose. Unaware of the danger that awaits, Annie, her trusty husband, Newton, and a vanload of kids forge ahead to unravel the mystery. Can this group of amateur sleuths get to the bottom of what’s going on before something goes horribly wrong?

My review: This book is a little crazy. I really liked Annie and Newton, their family was pretty crazy with 8 kids in tow. I liked that Annie seemed like a real mother of eight would, a bit frazzled and crazy. I liked how she was able to think the mystery through, figur…

Through Love's Trials

About the book: Kenneth King, a successful Arizona attorney, finds himself facing the most difficult trial of his life—and it’s not in a courtroom. He’s asked to deliver a mysterious disk to Emma James an attorney in Utah, but as soon as Kenneth agrees to it, his life is turned upside down. His home is broken into, he’s shot at, and an attorney at his firm is murdered. Is he next?

Kenneth contacts Emma, and is drawn to her immediately, but she is a strong-willed single mother who doesn’t want anything to do with the disk—or with him. However, when Emma suffers a brutal assault that is possibly linked to the disk, Emma’s father, an agent in the Canadian Security Intelligence Service steps in to help Kenneth protect her and find out who wants them dead.

The tension builds as Kenneth and Emma find themselves in a race against time to stop an attack on North America’s defenses. Will the Canadian government be able to help them before the United States is attacked? Will Kenneth and Emma let …

The Broken Path

Autumn Reader doesn't trust men anymore, she was beaten and more by her ex-husband Trent. Now she's got her amazing two year old daughter, Brittan, and she's living with her mom in the small town of Malad, Idaho. She doesn't plan to meet and fall in love with Ethan Searle. Ethan was in an accident as a child and walks with the help of braces, and he is sure that Autumn looks down on him for that simple fact. Autumn is sure that Ethan can't stand her. Is there anyway these two can get past their pasts and fall completely in love with each other or will their miscommunication keep them forever apart?

This is a really cute story. I especially loved Brittan's character, she really is a cutie. I liked Autumn and Ethan as well, and it was kind of fun that Autumn's mom also had a bit of a love story going on in the background. This isn't my favorite of Cami's books, it didn't seem as well put together as some, but it is a fun book, and I've seen it …

Divine Intervention

About the book: “And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.” Mormon 9:19

In our day, we have not witnessed the Red Sea parting, but does this mean that miracles have ceased? On the contrary — among members of the Church, there have always existed sacred and profound experiences that serve to uplift individuals and strengthen families. Now, readers can be edified by the faith-affirming accounts shared in Divine Intervention, a collection of inspiring tales of survival from Church leaders, political leaders, and everyday individuals. These Latter-day Saints share life-changing miraculous moments — from President Snow’s survival on the storm-tossed sea to the harrowing account of a baby boy who cheated death. Every narrative is unique, but one thing ties them together: each story demon…

As You Are

About the book: A horse breeder by trade, Corbin Jonquil is more at home in the stables than in the ballroom of his sprawling estate. Corbin is the quietest of the Jonquil brothers and has always faded into the background, contentedly unnoticed. When a mysterious young widow, Mrs. Clara Bentford, moves into the neighborhood, however, Corbin quickly comes to realize that being noticed has its advantages. But how to catch the eye of the lady? According to his brothers, Corbin need only make a few simple changes to transform himself into the object of any woman’s desire—dubious advice, indeed. Following a series of misadventures, Corbin and Clara slowly lower the facades behind which they’ve been hiding, leaving Corbin shocked by the horrors that haunt the woman he’s coming to care for so ardently. When the menace of Clara’s past threatens to tear them apart and tensions mount, will the couple have the courage to fight for the promise of forever?

My Review: Clara Bentford is trying to hid…

Perfect Lies

About the book: Annie and Fia are ready to fight back.

The sisters have been manipulated and controlled by the Keane Foundation for years, trapped in a never ending battle for survival. Now they have found allies who can help them truly escape. After faking her own death, Annie has joined a group that is plotting to destroy the Foundation. And Fia is working with James Keane to bring his father down from the inside.

But Annie's visions of the future can't show her who to trust in the present. And though James is Fia's first love, Fia knows he's hiding something. The sisters can rely only on each other - but that may not be enough to save them.

My review: I have to start by saying I really love Kiersten White's writing style. Her characters are really well done, I love how it makes you care about them. In this book you shift from Annie's perspective to Fia's and back again. This part works really well. But then you are also shifting time periods which is clearl…

Walking on Water

Alan Christoffersen's walk across the country is just about finished. He's just got to walk across Florida, but he needs to stop and take some time to be with his father who just had a heart attack. Alan knows that mortality can take anyone of us at any time, but he's not ready for his father to die. His dad has always just seemed immortal. Alan is grateful for the time he gets to spend with his dad, he's even more grateful for the family history that his dad has put together, there will be stories that he's heard in the family history, but there are also some surprises. And just what is Alan planning to do when he finally finishes the walk that he began so long ago?

I really enjoyed this series, I'm so sad to see it end. I love when there are characters from books that almost seem to live on in your mind, Alan for me will always be one of those characters, I've laughed with him, I've cried with him, I've been scared for him when he's in a scary …

Blog Tour - The Lincoln Hypthesis

About the book: Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth US president during a very dark time in America's history. Author Timothy Ballard explores the crucial role that President Lincoln played to bring this nation closer to heaven. Readers will see Lincoln as a man inspired of God who invoked a covenant relationship between America and its maker—not unlike the national covenants invoked by righteous leaders in the Book of Mormon. In addition, The Lincoln Hypothesis reveals documented evidence that Abraham Lincoln did, in fact, check out the Book of Mormon as he struggled with making some of the most critical decisions of his presidency. Did he read it? Did it influence him? Was the Book of Mormon a key factor in Lincoln's success and the healing of a nation?

The author states, "As you read, you will, like a prosecutor reviewing a case, or like a jury determining a verdict, identify valuable pieces of evidence that can be fully substantiated. You will also identify pieces of …

Glitch

Greer Pierson knew when she said that she would be willing to be matched along with the rest of those in the singles ward that weren't currently engaged that there would be a computer program and an actuary involved. She didn't plan on the actuary being someone that she knew from her past, but that's just what happened. Milo Jenkins was not the best blast from the past she could have received, he was a crush that never seemed to crush back, so she started playing pranks on him. Now years later, in a different state, and with Greer a member of the LDS Church, it's a bit strange to have him be the one to basically set her up. Only there must be some mistake, because Greer's match is her ex-boyfriend Bob, and Greer has no plans to get back together with him. There seems to be a problem with a lot of the matches and Greer decides that it's up to her to fix what she can and see if her matches are any better. What results is a comedy of errors that you won't see …
