Divinity of Women

About the book: Scriptural history is replete with reports of strong women from all walks of life: from the humble handmaiden to the mighty priestess, each demonstrates the eternal truth of our divine worth. A thought-provoking celebration of the potential of womanhood, Divinity of Women explores scriptural accounts of women from each of the standard works—both those who allowed themselves to be refined by the challenges of life and those who chose not to turn to Christ in their moments of need. By linking scriptural women's experiences with modern applications, this powerful volume will inspire women to boldly confront life's challenges on the path to divinity.

My Review: I love reading books that teach you about women of the scriptures. It doesn't seem that there are all that many and a lot of times you don't even know their names, but there is a lot to learn form the amazing women talked about in the scriptures. This book was really great, I love that it talks about …

Blog Tour - Fresh Courage Take

About the book: The United States turned a blind eye when the Mormons were driven from Missouri to Illinois and finally out of the country altogether. How can the government—and Brigham Young—now be asking the Mormons to come up with 500 able-bodied soldiers to assist in the war with Mexico? And how can Will Lewis be asked to join the Mormon Battalion when it means leaving Liz and their two little boys on their own in the wilderness? How many sacrifices will be required in order for the Saints to create Zion?

And in modern-day Nauvoo, Jeff and Abby Lewis are facing challenges of their own. Juggling family priorities, professional responsibilities, and Church callings becomes and almost impossible feat. It is clear that building Zion in the latter days will require sacrifices, just as it did in the time of Jeff's ancestors.

In this concluding volume of the Come to Zion trilogy, beloved novelist Dean Hughes provides a unique perspective on the struggles and sacrifices—and ultimate joy…

American Ride Blast

This is one of our very favorite shows to watch. The host, Stan Ellsworth, knows so much about the history of America and the way he tells it is really compelling. I can't believe how much stuff we have learned watching this series and there have been several moments that I have been brought to tears as he's talked about things like The Star Spangled Banner. Have a great Memorial Day and make sure to check out this great show!

Host of AMERICAN RIDE, Stan Ellsworth breaks the mold of the stereotypical High School history teacher. Former history teacher Stan Ellsworth tours the country on a Harley Davidson for the television show “American Ride.” Ellsworth’s approach to American history in AMERICAN RIDE removes the “bow tie and sweater vest” of history professors, puts on the “skull rag and denim vest” and breaks down stereotypes. His adventurous spirit and love for the United States is contagious and engaging. His approach is more like an invitation to walk (and ride) with him …

You Came for Me

And when Ellie’s and AJ’s paths happen to cross, Ellie is shocked to recognize the hot celebrity as Austin Robbins, her old high school classmate from Idaho who rose to fame in her absence. Happy to reconnect, the two escape the clamoring crowds to explore the city Ellie has grown to love. But just as their feelings begin to heat up, so do the mobs of fans, making Ellie doubt she could handle the pressures of celebrity life. And when the two witness a horrific bombing on the streets of London, Ellie’s camera makes her an unwitting intruder in the eyes of real mobsters who will stop at nothing to cover their backs.

My Review: Ellie is thrilled to be returning to her missionary stomping grounds of London. She's s…

Missing Lily

“You don’t know who I am,” I whispered. He didn’t move—either away from me, or closer—and after an interminable moment, I stepped back and hurried out of the house.

He didn’t follow me as I fled into the night.

Lylin was not used to being alone—much less alone, hurt, and lost. So when she is separated from her guard and forced to abandon her horse, she counts herself lucky to stumble upon a manor house. Still frightened by those who chased her into the night, she keeps her identity a secret, calling herself Lily as she accepts the help of kind servants, and the compassion of Lord Fallon. When they fall into an easy friendship, she wonders if her secrecy was too hasty. However, as she gets to know the manor and its residents, Lylin discovers that she’s not the only one hiding secrets, and it may be a very good thing that her host doesn’t know her true identity as a member of the royal family.

My Review: Princess Lylin is on her way home from her sister Ella's …

Blog Tour - What is Hidden

About the book: In a land of masquerades and mystery, Evie is a mask maker in Venesia, where masks represent rank and identity. When a cryptic bandit strips away Evie’s mask and destroys her home, she goes into hiding at the palace to find both a new identity—and revenge. My Review: Evie has been making masks in Venesia with her father for a long time. It has always been a a safe occupation, but not anymore. That very night, a man breaks into Evie and her father's home, kills her father, and sets their home on fire. Worse still for Evie, he steals her mask and leaves her the very mark that he wears on his face. Evie must learn who to trust and who not to trust, and she must keep her face hidden. Austenland

Jane is a young woman who seems to be unlucky in love. Every "boyfriend" she's ever had has ended up being a disaster. Jane might use the word boyfriend a bit more freely than most, as some of the men she's termed that have simply been people she's met in an elevator. One day Jane's mom comes to visit with a great-aunt that she's never really met before. This woman is wealthy and she's very old, and she discovers Jane's secret addiction to the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, you know, the one with Colin Firth. Much to Jane's amazement when her great-aunt dies she leaves her an all expenses paid trip to the only place in the world that you can meet your own Mr Darcy, Austenland. At first Jane thinks that she's living the only dream she's ever wanted, but she quickly realizes that the lines between fantasy and reality in Austenland are so blurred that she can't tell one from the other.
