Unsinkable (Titanic #1)

It's spring 1912 and the Titanic is ready to start it's maiden journey from England to New York. 4 young passengers are about to embark on the most amazing and dangerous journey of their lives. There's Paddy, a young orphan from Scotland, he's a stow-away running for his life. Sophie is an American, a young woman who spends an awful lot of time bailing her mom out of jail after one of her "Votes for Women" rampages, she and her mom are delivered to the Titanic by the local police. Juliana is a wealthy young woman whose father is always looking for the next new thing. And last but not least Alfie, a young steward, his mother abandoned him and his father is shoveling coal into the Titanic's engines. All of these young people's lives will intersect on the most amazing ship ever built. But will any of them survive the journey.

This book is really fun! I volunteer during the summer for a literacy event for elementary age kids that our city has. This was one of the books that the older kids book club read. I was really impressed with the story line. I thought that the author did an awesome job of making the reader want to read the second and third books in the series. It's kind of obvious just what's going to happen to the ship, but the characters are another story! I'm really excited to read the next two books in the series to find out what will happen to all of them.
