Jack and the Beanstalk

When Hansel and Gretel grew up and got married they had two children, a boy named Jack, and a girl named Jill. Now Jack and Jill have both grown up, Jack is engaged to marry a wonderful girl, Rachel. Unfortunately, in the middle of the night Rachel is taken by a giant and no one can tell quite where the giant took her. Jack is furious that she's been missing for several hours and he was never informed. Jack just knows that he must find his beloved before it's too late. He must go to his mother's home kingdom of Larkein, where the magic is, and find a way to find her. Jill insists that she won't be left behind. Once in Larkein, Jack will have to outwit the witch that orchestrated the kidnapping and figure out a way to get Rachel back, but will both he and Jill survive the rescue attempt?

This is a really creative and fun story. I have never thought of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in quite this way before. I also love that the nursery rhyme of Jack and Jill is brought into the story. I love the romance that Jenni James is able to weave through all of her fairy-tales, it's always sweet and clean. This book is really a short, quick read that you won't regret picking up!

I was able to borrow a copy of this book from my local library.
