Fractured Light

Llona has lots of things she doesn't really like about her life. She's an orphan living with her Uncle Jake, who mostly just plays video games and leaves the house a mess. They've had to move a lot, because Llona is an Aura and she's afraid that the Vyken who killed her Aura mother is after her too. Because she has someone hunting her, Llona tends to be a bit of a loner. Life in high school is really hard without many real friends. But Llona decides that a life without fun and friends is not really any kind of a life. So she lets a few people in, May is her best friend and the one person who truly seems to understand that Llona has secrets. Christian is a boy that Llona just met, he seems to really like her and want to be her boyfriend, but he can be really over-protective at times. With these two by her side Llona feels as though she can face anything...well, at least Mr. Steele's high school math classes. But there are some really strange things happening around …

The Forgiven Duke

If you haven't read The Guardian Duke you might not want to read this review quite yet, there might be a few spoilers of that book!

When we last left our heroine in The Guardian Duke, she's setting sail for Iceland with her new fiance John Lemon. As they pull away from the harbor, Alex's gaze locks with one she knows to be her Guardian Duke and she knows at that moment that she's meant to love only him. This book opens right where that one leave off in the Irish harbor and the Duke, Gabriel, has just felt the same connection that Alex felt. He knows that he's to marry her, but now he has to find a way to get to her in Iceland and convince her of that fact. He has no way of knowing of her change of heart about her fiance, but he's still willing to go and give it a try, even with his deafness that Alex knows nothing about. But the road will be long and hard for him to get to Iceland with multiple detours and long days aboard a ship fighting seasickness. Things are…

Athena

Athena is happy with her life the way that it is. She's the editor of her own magazine, Newport Travel, she has a boyfriend, sort of...they go on dates when he's in between assignments for her magazine. Her mom is constantly nagging her to get married to a nice Greek boy, and her dad's Alzheimer's is making it so he doesn't even remember her name. Things take a turn for the worse for Athena, when her boyfriend Karl comes back into town and starts pushing for way more commitment that Athena is ready for. When she refuses, by her silence, she knows that they are over, but his parting shot about her never reading books bothers her. It bothers her so much, that she spontaneously goes into a used bookstore on her morning run the very next day. She feels that she's a mess from working out, but the owner, Grey, never says a thing about that. He does offer her a free first edition book if she'll go to this book club, mainly to get Ruby, the woman with the book club…

Blog Tour - Heart of the Ocean

Heart of the Ocean
by Heather B. Moore

A dark secret . . . a grieving ghost  . . . a handsome stranger  . . .
What more could Eliza Robinson want?
Except for maybe her life.

In Heather B. Moore’s enthralling 1840’s historical romance, Heart of the Ocean, Eliza Robinson has turned down the very pretentious Mr. Thomas Beesley’s marriage proposal. As a business partner of Eliza’s father, Thomas quickly discredits the family and brings disgrace to the Robinson name.

While her father scrambles to restore his good name in New York City, Eliza flees to the remote Puritan town of Maybrook to stay with her Aunt Maeve. Although relieved to be away from all- things-male and unforgiving gossip columns, odd things start to happen to Eliza, and she is plagued by a ghostly voice. Her aunt’s explanation? That Eliza is being haunted by a woman who died of a broken heart twenty years ago.

After Aunt Maeve is tragically killed, Eliza's life is put in danger as she tries to uncover the mystery of her aunt&#…

Accidental Private Eye

Dallas Rowen has had a string of unbelievably bad luck. His apartment was broken into, and he lost a good chunk of his things, then he lost his job. He's down to his last few dollars, leaning against the wall of a detective agency when he's found by an older woman, Ellen Grady. She doesn't ask who she was, she just utters the words, "I need your help." She just assumed that Dallas was a private eye. He tries to explain, but she tells him that she prayed and the Lord told her that she is going to be able to help her. Ellen's grandson, Jerry Grady was driving his car in a demolition derby when he died. The death was all over the news, but what wasn't reported was that Jerry was killed, not by the demolition derby, but by a bullet to the head. Now Ellen wants Dallas to track down the killer, but things are already getting dangerous. First Ellen, then Dallas are threatened that if they keep poking around into Jerry's death, they'll be next. Dallas kno…

Mercedes Maxwell’s sister’s last wish was for Mercedes to find evidence against Kat’s husband, William Braxton, and have him hung as a traitor to the crown. When she meets William Braxton for the first time, all is not as it seems. Portraying her twin, Mercedes knows this is the only way to get close enough to William to discover his secrets. What she finds along the way are little surprises she hadn’t counted on, especially when she begins to give her heart to a man who may be a spy against the crown.

My Review:

Cover Reveal - The Dragon Empire

It's time to reveal the cover for The Dragon Empire, a book coming out in February by Heather McCorkle.

The Dragon Empire by Heather McCorkle -- February 2013 / Compass Press
On Yacrana, dragons stand at the top of the evolutionary ladder instead of humans. Such an advanced species is not without its issues though.

There's trouble in the Dragon Empire, the kind that could start a war between dragons and the races of people. Hidden factions of dragons believe they should rule the lesser races, not simply stand aside and allow them to develop as they will. Having lived so long in peace, the Emperors turn a blind eye, many oblivious that such attitudes even exist.

Despite being only an architect class, emerald dragon, Grendar is willing to risk banishment and death to stop that which his rulers refuse to see. The hope of peace lies not within the scaled breast of a dragon however, but within the hands of a group of people. But if the hidden factions have their way, these people wo…

Isi isn't sure either, but just then a neighboring kingdom, Tira, starts a war with Bayern and all of the forest born, including Leifer are asked to join the cause. When Leifer causes his own death by burning the forces of Tira, Enna knows that she can help in the war by learning to control fire too. Endlessly

Evie would like to think that she's just a normal 17 year-old girl with normal 17 year-old girl problems, but that's not really the case. She is an "empty one", a young woman with less soul than others, capable of sucking the souls from Paranormals. She has an awesome boyfriend, Lend, who can morph himself into pretty much what ever he wants. She lives with a Vampire Arianna, who happens to be her best friend. She's doing normal girl stuff with her vampire best friend, when all of a sudden the new director of the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) shows up on her doorstep, insisting that she come live at the Agency and work for them again full-time, regardless of her new contract. What happened to Raquel, her mentor and former director, anyway? She appears to be missing, and Evie is really confused. Will she, Lend, Arianna, Jack and Reth be able to figure out just what is happening and save Paranormals everywhere before it's too late?

He soon determines that he's kind of between earth and Heaven, in a place where spirits who haven't finished everything they need to do wait. He knows that he needs to get a message to Lena that he's okay, but without people being able to see or hear him he's uncertain how. He discovers that he's able to move things around, with great effort. This leads him to the idea of using the newspaper to get a message to her. Hi Ladies,

This is the moment. This is the year. You can be your best self, your most beautiful self, your most faithful, fit, and fabulous self. Ever. Twelve months are before you-what will you do with them?

Years ago, after bearing several children and feeling overwhelmed, I created and lived my “Year of the Change.” During twelve months of taking life by the horns, I lost weight, got organized, and discovered more joy. Since then I’ve tweaked and taught the principles I have learned and now share them with you.

So make this your yea…
