Get in the Christmas Spirit with Volume 2 of award-winning stories from LDS Publisher's 2010 and 2011 Christmas Story Contests! Sixteen short stories from popular LDS authors to help you remember the reason for the season!

My review: I was very excited to get to read this book! I have been following LDS Publisher for a while now and I had seen this book talked about in some of their posts. I have to say this book was great! There are quite a lot of Christmas stories included, each of these stories is quite short, it took me under 5 minutes to read each story. You could use this book as a Christmas story a day type thing with your family if you wanted to. I really liked how each of the stories had to do both with Christmas and the Gospel. For example, the title story, Checkin' it Twice, is about Santa, he's making his naughty and nice lists with input from a few of his elves. He learns a lesson from the Savior about not judging that I found really sweet and refreshing. I had never thought you could have a story about Santa and include the Savior.

There were so many great stories in here, I want to tell you a little something about everyone of them! But that would take far too long, so I'll just tell you about one more. Slushballs is a story about a young girl, Megan. She tries to be a nice girl and always act like a princess, but the boy next door decides to do mean things to her, things like throwing dirty balls of slushy snow at her. Megan knows she should turn the other cheek, but it's so nasty, so one day she decides to stand up for herself and pummel that mean Jimmy. Her mom teaches her a lesson about charity that day, a lesson that Megan will remember every Christmas for the rest of her life.
