Daughter of the Goddess

Patches is a little girl, she's seen 5 harvests. But those days have been full of loneliness and unkindness. It seems that Patches has never been able to do anything right in the sight of her mum or grandmum. But now her mum is taking her to be a slave of the Goddess, Patches isn't quite sure what that means. She soon discovers that the Goddess and the Priestesses that work in her Temple are kind. Patches is given a new name, Peaches, new clothes, love and responsibilities. Life is soon better for her, except for the demon Naga, who seems to want to kill Peaches. Luckily, there always seems to be someone around to save her from Naga just in the nick of time. But will someone always be around to save her, or will Peaches be caught unaware?

I thought that this was a cute novella, it's way short, I was able to read it in under an hour. I wasn't thrilled with Patches/Peaches mother in the first chapter, it made me sad to see someone be so mean to someone so young. But in the end, I could kind of understand her mother. I liked the characters in this book, I would have liked to have seen more of the story, in some places it seemed a little bit too quick, I guess you expect that with such a short story. I also liked the way good verses evil was portrayed in the plot. Overall, this was a really fun book to read!

I was given an e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
