Slathbog's Gold

Alex is having just a normal day. He's taken some time to think about his day as he's walking through town. He comes to a familiar bookshop on a familiar street, but suddenly everything is different. He notices in this familiar shop a sign that he's never seen there before. The sign says "Adventurers Wanted: Apply Within." Alex is musing on the strangeness of the message of the sign and happens to glance around at the empty street around him, when he looks back at the sign, it's changed color. He wonders if it's a special sign made to change color and enters the bookstore to either look at the sign or inquire of the clerk. What he finds is something surprising. The store inside is not the familiar bookstore that he was expecting, it's something far different. Through a funny misunderstanding, the man in the store, Mr. Clutter, takes an application from Alex to be an Adventurer and sets him up with an interview immediately for his first adventure. Alex meets the people doing the interviewing, and decides that it would be fun to go on an adventure, especially since he's assured that little time will pass in his everyday life before he returns from his-adventure,no matter how long that adventure is. But is Alex truly ready for the world of Adventurers?

I am very embarrassed to admit that I've had this book sitting on my bookshelf for more than a year without ever even opening it. I could make excuses about having a lot of other books to read, but after having read it, I know that I should have read it right after I got it. This story is AMAZING! Alex is a great character to see the adventures through, I love how he works through things to figure them out. I love that he is a strong male character for boys to look up to, it seems as though there aren't many of those right now. I love the adventurers, how brave, and honorable they all are. I loved the adventure in this book, it seems as though the trolls and dragons jump right off the pages of the book into your mind. Thanks to M L Forman for such a great book and series, can't wait for more adventures!

  1. My brother introduced our family to this series and we all love it! My 13-year-old proclaimed it his new favorite series ever and his younger sister loved it as well. I love that it is a great adventure series for kids -- my only complaint was that sometimes things just seemed too easy for Alex. But it's only a little complaint!

Higher

About the CD: Award-winning tenor Nathan Pacheco has toured the world featured alongside world-class artists such as Yanni, Katherine Jenkins, and Placido Domingo. In all of his travels across South America, through Europe and Asia, and across America, Nathan often includes spiritually rooted and uplifting songs in his repertoire. These songs take the listener on a beautiful journey with classic hymns such as "Be Thou My Vision," soaring Italian epics like "Nella Fantasia," and modern classics such as "Forever," by Kari Jobe. Performing with intimate acoustic backing and often featuring piano and cello, Nathan's desire with this album is to help people reach higher, to feel deeper spiritual connection, and to find peace through songs that life the soul.

Kayaks and Kisses

About the book: Brynn Caley is about to start her dream career running an outdoor sporting goods store when an out-of-town business guru makes his own offer on the property. Coerced into forming a temporary partnership, Brynn, with her ski experience, finds she has to work with fishing expert Gage to run the year-round shop.

Through a series of innocent misconceptions and a few blatant lies, Brynn doesn’t realize that the handsome single guy on the construction crew is her new partner, and he doesn’t want to set her straight until he can gain her favor. She, on the other hand, would do anything not to work with the stuffy businessman she’s only met through email.

Inspired by the movies You’ve Got Mail and The Shop around the Corner, Kayaks & Kisses is a heart-warming tale of finding love in autumn leaves, outdoor activities, and new friendships.

My review: This book was so fun! I loved that it's loosely based on one of my very favorite movies, You've Got Mail. There was at …

Blog Tour - Love and Fat Free Cheese

About the book: Fat-free cheese is okay—unless you’ve tasted real cheese. Juliet Easton learns this about love too as she uncovers who truly loves her, and who is using her to get to the secret she knows about the disappearance of her sister’s fiance and the pharmaceutical conspiracy he plans to reveal. Can she protect her loved ones’ lives and her heart? You’ll be hooked from Asiago to Zamorano cheese in this suspenseful and hilarious romantic thriller.

My review: I was amazed at just how much I loved this whole book. I picked it up and read it in one day because I wanted to know just what happened so badly. Such a great book, and I had to laugh at the author's name, Sharp is a kind of cheddar cheese so it totally goes with the title.

I loved the way that Juliet is the main character in this book, because it easily could have been her sister Eva, I think having Juliet the main character brings a ton of extra plot greatness. I also liked the way there were tons of flashbacks to Eva&…
