A Lancaster County Christmas

This is a book that I won from a book hop a few weeks ago, it makes a great addition to my Christmas week books! Mattie and her husband Sol are Amish, as such they live a very plain lifestyle. Mattie had a miscarriage not very long ago, and she needs to visit her doctor to make sure everything is alright with her recovery. While sitting in the waiting room, she sees a woman, an English woman, that's how the book talks about those who are not Amish. The woman, Jamie, listens to Mattie's son Danny as he talks to her about all kinds of things. She even seems interested in his owl whistle that Sol made for him. Mattie and her family don't really think another thing about the woman in the doctor's office. Jamie wouldn't have thought another thing about the Amish family either, except Danny left his owl whistle in the doctor's office and the doctor asks Jamie to return it on her way home. Jamie doesn't really want to, she and her husband CJ are going to be leaving right away to make the cruise that Jamie's father is giving them for Christmas, but things are not always what they seem with Jamie's father. The Amish family is surprised to see Jamie on their doorstep, but when calamity happens to Jamie and CJ's car, they are willing to step in and have Jamie and CJ join them in their Christmas celebration. This was a cute book. It's only 200 pages, definitely an easy read. I enjoyed seeing a little glimpse of Amish life, both through Jamie's and Mattie's eyes!
